Orange Slice Cake
Preparation: Cream margarine and sugar, add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add to creamed mixture. Place flour in a large bowl; add dates, orange slices and nuts; coating each piece. Add flour mixture and coconut to creamed mixture, small amounts at a time. Pour in greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 250° for 3 hours. Combine orange juice and powdered sugar and pour over hot cake. Let stand in pan overnight. Before removing, run a knife around outer edge and center hole to help cake turn loose. Submitted by: Elizabeth Parker |
